Reference images — guide the look

Point your agent at a picture and it works from what it sees: a style to match, a product to keep, or a result to edit. There are two ways to add one.

Two ways to add a reference

Both guide the very next prompt — the only difference is where the image comes from.

Upload
An image from your device — click or drag it into the prompt box.
Reuse
An image already in the app — pick a result you generated, or a reference you added earlier.

Upload from your device

Click the Click or drag an image here tile beside the prompt box, or drag files in. JPEG, PNG, WebP, BMP and AVIF work, several at once. Thumbnails line up in a strip where you can drag to reorder, remove one, or clear them all.

×
Uploaded references sit in a strip by the prompt box.

Want to keep a reference but skip it for one prompt? Switch it off — it stays in the strip, unused, until you switch it back on.

Off — kept, not used

Reuse an image you already made

Hover any generated image — in the chat or in Creations — and tap the circle in its corner. A checkmark means it’s selected, and it moves into the prompt box as the input for your next message. Select more than one to combine references.

Tap the corner circle on a result to reuse it.

Edit step by step

This is how you refine: generate an image, select it, then describe the change. Each round builds on the last instead of starting over.

Refine in place — no starting from scratch.
Uploaded vs reused. Uploads travel with your message each time; reused images are already hosted, so they’re passed along by link. Either way, they steer the result the same.

Good to know

  • The Buddy browser extension can clip images from any website straight into your prompt as uploads.
  • Click any thumbnail to preview it full-size before sending.
  • Order can matter when you combine references — drag thumbnails to reorder.
  • A switched-off upload isn’t deleted; it just sits out the next prompt.
